RWA has worked closely with community members, local stakeholders and government agencies to establish recycling initiatives along the beach boardwalk, public waterfront access sites along Jamaica Bay and reclaimed neglected lots of public space for a new waterfront park under the PLANYC 2030 initiative.
We have done this by leading design charettes and listening sessions with the community to establish Rockaway’s first community-led vision plan. This plan will incorporate public space along the Rockaway Peninsula, improvements to transportation links, establishing way finding signage, as well as a blue and greenway trail for improved waterfront access.
