The parade will travel along the Beach boardwalk to Beach 97th St @ the beach boardwalk. Individuals, schools, civic organizations and businesses are all encouraged to participate in the parade and “Best of Show” competition. Composting in the City: NYC Compost Project in Queens Workshop

Leaves, kitchen scraps, garden trimmings, and weeds can all become garden gold through composting. Learn the essentials of outdoor composting in city yards, and using a worm bin indoors. This tour will be led by Don Riepe, noted environmentalist and Director of the American Littoral Society. We will also have Natl Park Rangers taking part as we explore Gateway National Park. This event is FREE to the public and includes a bike swap, learn to ride lessons for kids, free helmet give aways and activity tables for kids to make bike related crafts. Join Bike New York, Recycle A Bicycle, NYC Department of Transportation-Bike safety, NYPD, IOBY and Queens Bike Safety Coalition to promote and educate kids about biking. Pick up a free helmet, upgrade your child’s bike, have your child learn how to ride for the first time or learn important cycling skills and traffic principals. Ewaste Recycling Event Drop Off

Location: Firehouse 59 located at Rockaway Beach Blvd @ Beach 58th St, Rockaway, NY 11692
We will be hosting an ewaste recycling event with “We Recycle” . Ewaste is essentially trash from electric equipment such as computers and cell phones. At this event people can drop off any unwanted, broken or unused computer equipment that needs to be disposed of, and We Recycle will recycle the parts so they can help keep this type of trash from ending up littering our shoreline.
