Rockaway Waterfront Alliance announces AQUA 101, a hands on environmental education and outdoor recreation after school program that allows students to learn about the natural environmental through water-based recreation, marine science, and stewardship.
The program takes place every Wednesday 3-6PM @ Marina 59 – Beach Channel Drive @ Beach 59th St, Rockaway starting September 22nd. Students will kayak on Jamaica Bay as they collect data at the oyster garden, take part in shoreline restoration and interact with scientists, biologists, and engineers to protect the environment while improving their own health by engaging in outdoor recreation. Some local schools offer class credit and community service hours for participation in the program.
